THE All Progressives Congress (APC) has clinched 23 out of 26 State House of Assembly seats in Ekiti.
Going by the results released on Sunday, March 19 by the Head of Voters Education and Publicity, Temitope Akanmu, on behalf of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Ekiti State, Ayobami Salami, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed to secure a seat in the State Assembly.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) won two seats in Ekiti East 1 and Ise/Orin constituencies, while the election for the seat in Ido/Osi 1 was inconclusive because of the slim margin of lead.
The REC explained that there is a need for a supplementary election to be held in three polling units in Ido/Osi 1 before a winner could emerge.
“This was borne out of violence, disruption of the voting process in PU 003, PU 012 and PU 014 in Ward 01,” the commissioner added.
He, however, noted that the APC won in Ikere 1, Irepodun Ifelodun 2, Ikole 1, Ekiti West 1, Emure, Ilejemeje, Ado 1, Ado 2, Ikere 2, Efon, Ekiti East 2, Ekiti South West, Ekiti South West 2, Ekiti South West 1, Ekiti South West 2, Ekiti West 2, Aiyekire, Ido/Osi 2, Ikole 2, Ijero, Irepodun/Ifelodun 1, Moba 1, Moba 2, Oye 1 and Oye 2 constituencies.
