Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has marked the second anniversary of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line, commending its progress and announcing a special fare reduction to celebrate the milestone.
In a message shared on his official handle, the governor described the Blue Line as a bold initiative that has reshaped commuting in Lagos. He highlighted that in just two years, the rail system has transported over five million passengers without a single recorded accident.
Two years ago, we launched the Lagos Blue Line, and today I feel an immense sense of pride and gratitude for how far we’ve come! – Sanwo-Olu
He explained that trains now operate every 10 minutes, making more than 90 trips each day. This, he said, has significantly reduced travel time and improved mobility across the state.
“These achievements prove that when we work with dedication and purpose, we can build systems that truly serve the people,” the governor added, while expressing appreciation to Lagosians for their continued trust and support.
To commemorate the anniversary, Sanwo-Olu announced a 50 percent reduction in fares on all Blue Line trips for Thursday, September 4, 2025. He encouraged residents to take advantage of the offer and experience the service.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing a modern, safe, and efficient transportation system. He emphasized that the Blue Line is only one part of a larger vision aimed at creating a Lagos where movement is easier, faster, and safer.
“Our journey is far from over. Step by step, we are shaping the Lagos of our future,” Sanwo-Olu concluded.
