Police Invite Senator Fadahunsi Over Alleged Threat Against Accord Party Members

The senator representing Osun East senatorial district, Francis Fadahunsi, has been summoned by the Osun State Police Command over a viral threat to “kill Accord” members before the state gubernatorial election.

The police invitation, it was learnt, follows the outrage on social media over the Senator’s comments, asking supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party.

In a letter dated August 11, 2026 and signed by the Commissioner of Police, elections in Osun State, Samuel Etaifo Erale, Fadahunsi was asked to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Osogbo on Wednesday, August 12, at 11:00 am.

Cable said the letter invited Senator Fadahunsi to explain the circumstances of the statement said to have been made during an APC campaign in Ilesa on Tuesday.

“The invitation is based on information available to the Nigeria Police alleging that during your address at the aforementioned program, you made statements that were deemed to be threatening, inciting and intimidating in nature and the statement has already been in circulation on various electronic and social media platforms,” the letter said.

Meanwhile, Fadahunsi has explained his controversial statement about the “Kill Accord”, saying that he was talking about defeating the Accord Party (A) at the ballot box and not urging violence.

Fadahunsi’s media office in Osogbo on Tuesday issued a statement titled, “Kill Osun Accord with Votes, Not Violence, Senator Fadahunsi Tells APC.”

The statement said the Senator’s comments were meant as a political expression urging APC supporters to vote Accord out.

The comment was described in a statement as “a call on supporters to overwhelmingly reject the Accord Party at the ballot box thru lawful, peaceful and democratic means during the August 15 governorship election.”

“To be clear, the statement of the Senator was entirely political and metaphorical,” the statement added.

Fadahunsi’s media office stated that he did not call for physical attacks on members or supporters of Accord.
