Faith Akinola Announces September 26 Premiere Date for ‘The Letter’
Writer and producer Faith Akinola is preparing to bring her latest theatrical production, The Letter, to the stage on September 26, 2026, through Mustard Tree Productions.
The production tells a story centred on identity, rejection, social pressure, healing and restoration. At the heart of the play is a young bride whose expectations surrounding a major milestone are unexpectedly thrown into uncertainty.
Against a backdrop of celebration and family excitement, the character is forced to confront disappointment while dealing with cultural expectations and the opinions of people around her.
The production also examines the impact of unsolicited advice and public scrutiny, highlighting how external expectations can influence personal experiences and emotional wellbeing.
Akinola, through The Letter, uses the story of the young bride to explore the challenges that arise when individual desires come into conflict with societal and cultural expectations.
The cast includes veteran Nollywood actresses Tina Mba and Kate Henshaw, as well as Oluchi Odi and Mich Straw. Other cast members will also feature in the production.

The play is being presented by Mustard Tree Productions, founded by Akinola. The production company focuses on developing stories and experiences across different entertainment platforms, including stage, screen and live events.
The Letter is supported by Providus Unity, Lizza Atelier, Joes Energy House and Mine Studios.
The September 26 presentation will combine theatre, music and storytelling to take audiences through a narrative focused on rejection, resilience and restoration.
Rather than presenting rejection solely as an ending, the production explores the possibility of emotional recovery and rebuilding after unexpected disappointment.

With a cast that includes established Nigerian performers and a storyline built around a significant personal turning point, The Letter is positioned as an intimate theatrical exploration of how people respond when carefully held expectations are suddenly disrupted.
