Veteran actor Jide Kosoko has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, insisting that the country’s economic difficulties are not as severe as some critics suggest.

The Nollywood star shared his views during an interview with actress Biola Bayo, where he challenged the widespread narrative of hunger and hardship under the current administration.

Kosoko argued that Nigerians should also consider the conditions that prevailed before Tinubu took office when assessing the country’s current situation.

“Things aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. I am hungry; check most of those people. Before Tinubu came, what were they eating?” he asked.

Although he acknowledged that Nigeria still faces numerous challenges, the actor maintained that Tinubu inherited existing problems and was making efforts to resolve them.

He stressed that his support for the President did not mean he believed everything was going well.

“Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying things are rosy; there are too many issues at hand which Bola Ahmed Tinubu is now fixing,” Kosoko said.

The actor also called on students benefiting from government programmes to speak publicly about their experiences and acknowledge the administration’s initiatives.

He further criticised the President’s political opponents, arguing that personal ambition could be affecting their judgment of his policies.

Kosoko maintained that Tinubu was moving in the right direction despite the difficulties confronting the country.

His remarks come amid continuing national debates over economic hardship, government reforms and the effectiveness of policies introduced by the Tinubu administration.
