BREAKING: Nigeria’s Ebola Index Patient Evacuated Abroad for Treatment
A woman identified in a media report as Nigeria’s Ebola index patient has reportedly been evacuated from the country aboard a medical evacuation aircraft.
It was reported that the operation took place early Monday morning at the private jet wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
According to the report, the woman, described as the wife of a Swiss diplomat in Nigeria, was scheduled to depart at approximately 6 a.m. aboard a medical evacuation aircraft already stationed at the airport.
The news organisation said its crew, deployed to the airport’s General Aviation Terminal, obtained photographs showing a convoy of ambulances arriving from Abuja’s city centre, accompanied by diplomatic vehicles.
The convoy reportedly consisted of three vehicles, including one belonging to an international agency. The vehicles were said to have proceeded into the airport’s private jet section.
It was further reported that airport officials cordoned off the private wing, restricting access during the operation.

The outlet also said it obtained video footage showing a medical evacuation aircraft and its crew preparing to transport the passenger. The special arrangements surrounding the operation reportedly raised suspicions that the woman could be the suspected Ebola index patient.
A source cited in the report allegedly said the Federal Government intended to announce the evacuation only after the aircraft had taken off and exited Nigerian airspace.
However, several important details remain unconfirmed, including the woman’s identity, the destination of the aircraft and her current medical condition.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement from the Federal Government or relevant health authorities confirming the reported evacuation was included in the available account.
The circumstances surrounding the operation therefore remain unclear, and the report should not be taken as official confirmation that Nigeria has an Ebola index case or that the woman has been diagnosed with the disease.
