The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned nine individuals identified as prime suspects in connection with the recent wave of killings in Benue and Plateau States.

In a related development, the agency also filed charges against an alleged arms dealer who was found with seven M16 rifles. Authorities believe the weapons were intended for criminal networks contributing to the insecurity in the region.

This arraignment is seen as a major step in ongoing efforts to address rising violence in the North-Central, where clashes between armed groups and local communities have resulted in numerous deaths and the displacement of thousands.

According to officials, the suspects face multiple charges, including terrorism, unlawful possession of firearms, and complicity in mass killings. These charges highlight the government’s commitment to dismantling violent networks destabilizing the area.

The DSS further assured that it will intensify its crackdown on armed groups, vowing that no individual or organization linked to the violence will escape justice.
