President Tinubu Recognizes Late Heroes with National Honors

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu conferred national honors on MKO Abiola, former chairman of the defunct National Electoral Commission (NEC), Humphrey Nwosu, and several others.

During his June 12 address to a joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu conferred national honours on several individuals, including posthumous awards.

“As we commemorate 26 years of uninterrupted democracy, it is only fitting to recognise those who made great sacrifices—defying all odds and facing grave dangers—to secure democratic governance for our nation,” Tinubu stated.

He went on to announce the posthumous conferment of the national honour of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) on Kudirat Abiola, acknowledging her as a heroine of the June 12 democratic struggle.
