TRCN Partners GMind Academy to Advance AI Training for Teachers Across Nigeria

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and GMind Academy are exploring ways to advance Artificial Intelligence (AI) training for teachers across the country’s 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
The Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GMind AI and the Founder of GMind Academy, Dr Success Ojo, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the TRCN in Abuja.
The proposed training 774 AI Adoption Specialists, with one specialist designated for each Local Government Area, to support teachers, schools, and other education stakeholders in understanding and safely and effectively adopting AI.
She said GMind Academy was prepared to train the 774 specialists and to provide each participant with two months of free access to the GMind AI platform, enabling them to learn, practise and demonstrate practical applications of the technology.
According to her, the specialists would serve as local AI adoption champions, helping schools and teachers navigate the use of AI in teaching, learning, assessment and other educational activities.

Ojo also proposed that teachers who complete GMind Academy’s Certified AI-ready Teacher Programme (CART) should be eligible to earn recognised professional development credits towards their continuing professional development requirements with TRCN, subject to the Council’s approval and applicable requirements.
She said integrating AI competency into teachers’ continuing professional development would help make AI training a sustained part of their professional development rather than a one-off intervention.
Ojo commended TRCN for its role in teacher registration, professional standards, licensing, accreditation and continuing professional development, saying these functions were important to strengthening the teaching profession and Nigeria’s education system.
She also acknowledged ongoing Federal Government education reforms focused on teacher professionalisation, education quality and digital competencies.
She said collaboration between TRCN and GMind Academy could help extend AI adoption in education from the national level to the grassroots and equip teachers with practical skills to use emerging technologies responsibly.
