Kwara Increases Annual Students’ Bursary From N20,000 To N30,000
The Kwara State Government has increased its annual bursary for indigenes studying in tertiary institutions across the country from N20,000 to N30,000, representing a 50 per cent increase in the financial support provided to students.
The upward review was approved by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as part of efforts to support students’ welfare and ease the financial burden of pursuing higher education.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Comrade Abdulwasiu Onidugbe, disclosed this in Ilorin, the state capital.
Onidugbe spoke while conducting executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) around some projects executed by the AbdulRazaq administration.
He explained that an application link would be made available to the public to enable eligible students of Kwara origin in tertiary institutions across the country to apply for the bursary.
The increase means that eligible students will receive an additional N10,000 annually under the revised arrangement.

Onidugbe said the state government remained committed to students’ welfare, citing the regular payment of bursaries, entrepreneurship support, capacity-building programmes and other youth-focused initiatives as evidence of its commitment.
He added that the bursary scheme was part of the administration’s efforts to support students and improve their access to educational opportunities.
Meanwhile, the newly sworn-in North-Central coordinator of NANS, Comrade Abiola Azeez Babatunde, commended the governor for prioritising innovation and students’ welfare through the establishment of the Ilorin Innovation Hub.
Babatunde called for stronger collaboration between NANS and the innovation hub to promote technological development in the state and equip young Nigerians with the skills needed to compete in the global digital economy.
He said closer cooperation with the hub could help strengthen opportunities for young people to develop their technological capabilities and participate more actively in the digital economy.
