Yinka Quadri: I Left School to Rescue My Father’s Family Business
Veteran Nigerian actor Yinka Quadri has opened up about a major decision from his childhood, revealing that he left school to help his father run the family business.
The actor made the disclosure during an interview on the African A-List Podcast, published on YouTube on Saturday, October 10, 2026. He explained that his decision came after he observed the challenges his father faced while relying on a relative to manage the trading business.
Quadri said his late uncle’s son had been sent to work with his father to learn the family trade. The arrangement between their parents was that the young man would spend 10 years learning the business before returning to his own family.
However, the actor disclosed that the relative remained with his father for 16 years, exceeding the original agreement by six years.
According to Quadri, the long period they spent working together made his father increasingly attached to the young man. He said his father eventually treated the relative almost like his own son and depended heavily on him in running the business.

Concerned about the situation, Quadri decided to leave school and help his father manage the enterprise.
“I decided to leave school because I wanted to help my father manage the family business,” he said.
