Etinosa Idemudia Defends AY Amid Backlash Over Cardiff Event
Actress Etinosa Idemudia has expressed support for comedian AY following the controversy surrounding his failed comedy show in Cardiff, accusing entertainment blogs and social media users of giving more attention to negative stories than positive achievements.
Etinosa shared her reaction on Instagram after AY’s UK comedy tour encountered difficulties at the Cardiff venue on Sunday.
The actress maintained that the comedian had been showing up at other venues during the tour and entertaining his audience, yet his successful performances had received little attention from entertainment platforms.
She questioned why the inability to stage one show had suddenly become a major topic online, with various accusations and interpretations emerging before the circumstances were fully understood.
In her post, which reportedly attracted more than 2,400 likes, Etinosa said the situation reflected a broader problem in online entertainment reporting.
“So sad that good news is no news. Nobody posted his successful shows. Nobody even cared to find out what’s happening since AY is not a kid or an unprofessional,” she wrote.
The actress also expressed concern about the speed with which negative reports spread across social media, arguing that people were quick to criticise entertainers when unexpected problems occurred.

She referenced another comedian, Eric Gugua, in her comments, suggesting that similar difficulties had affected other comedy events.
Etinosa’s defence followed AY’s public apology on Monday, in which the comedian explained the circumstances surrounding the Cardiff show.
According to AY, he and the other comedians travelled to Cardiff and entered the venue. However, unresolved payment commitments involving the organisers reportedly delayed proceedings until most audience members had left.
The comedian apologised following the incident, which disappointed attendees who had expected to watch the scheduled performance.
The controversy has raised questions about the management of live events, particularly the importance of settling financial arrangements and communicating delays to ticket holders.
Etinosa’s comments have also reignited discussion about the role of entertainment blogs in shaping public perception of celebrities.
While her post defended AY against what she described as premature criticism, the circumstances of the event have drawn attention to the importance of clear communication and accountability whenever a show fails to proceed as planned.
