Nollywood actress Amanda Oruh has stressed that a woman’s sexual history should never be used to disregard her right to refuse sex, calling on men to always seek consent before intimacy.

The King of Boys actress made her position clear while addressing the issue of sexual consent, insisting that previous sexual experiences do not amount to automatic permission for future encounters.

“I don’t care if she slept with 5,000 men; if she didn’t consent to the 5,001st man, it is a rape,” Oruh said.

She reinforced her message with a direct appeal to men, urging them to make consent a priority in their interactions with women.

“You should always ask a woman for consent – men,” she added.

The actress also offered a personal perspective on marriage, suggesting that discovering herself was more important to her than actively searching for a soulmate.

“My death is more guaranteed than my wedding, so instead of looking for my soulmate, I’m going to look for my soul,” she stated.

Oruh has also earned international recognition for her acting career. She recently won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Acting Ensemble at the Sundance Film Festival for portraying Pinky in the feature film Lady.

Born in Lagos to William Iheanyichi Oruh and Joy Uchenna Oruh, she developed a passion for storytelling early in life.

Her professional experience extends beyond acting to include film production and hosting.

Through her comments, Oruh has drawn attention to the importance of respecting personal boundaries and recognising that consent must be freely given in every sexual encounter.
