Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has advised single women to be intentional about their choice of partners instead of accepting relationships simply because a man has shown interest in them.

The actress shared the advice during a recent episode of her podcast published on her YouTube channel.

Adegbite noted that some women accept marriage or relationship proposals from men simply because those men have chosen them, without first considering whether the relationship is suitable for them.

She encouraged women to focus on compatibility, love, mutual support and the ability to build a future together.

“Ladies, don’t choose someone because they chose you. Choose someone because they are right for you,” she said.

Adegbite stressed that a partner’s age should not necessarily determine whether a relationship is suitable.

According to her, what matters is whether both individuals can love, support and build with each other.

She also addressed older women who receive proposals from younger men, warning them against accepting such relationships merely because the attention makes them feel desirable.

She advised women to examine the character and emotional maturity of a potential partner before making a commitment.

“To the older woman, if a younger man is interested in you, please don’t make the mistake of choosing him because he makes you feel desirable,” Adegbite said.

She urged women to consider whether the man respects them, supports their ambitions and makes them feel secure.

Adegbite further advised older women with children to ensure that a younger prospective partner respects their children and understands the responsibilities that come with their lives.

“Only choose him if he is emotionally mature and knows what he wants, respects your children and your life, and actually wants to build something with you,” she added.

The actress concluded that relationships should be based on genuine partnership rather than simply being selected by someone who wants to settle down.
