Actress Toyin Abraham has denied being a member of the Lagos State APC Campaign Council, saying she did not know her name had been included in the published list.

The filmmaker addressed the development again on Friday after an X user suggested that her decision to reject the reported role could help her avoid further online bullying.

Abraham dismissed that suggestion, explaining that bullying was not the reason for her decision. She said she rejected the reported appointment because it was the appropriate thing to do after discovering that her name had been included without her knowledge.

She also maintained that she had already made her position clear that she was not interested in participating in politics.

The clarification came a day after her name appeared in the Lagos APC campaign council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.

In an Instagram Story, Abraham had stated that she was not a member of any campaign council and urged the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.

The published list included her alongside other prominent figures from the entertainment industry, including Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright.

The directorate is headed by Lagos Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture Toke Benson-Awoyinka, with Kosoko serving as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director.

The campaign council was unveiled ahead of its scheduled inauguration at the APC Secretariat in Ikeja on Friday, September 18.

Abraham’s latest statement makes clear that, although her name appeared in the published document, she says she did not consent to or participate in the reported campaign council role.
