‘I Thought My Career Was Over’ – Isbae U Recalls 2022 Sex Scandal

Nigerian skit maker Isbae U has recalled the difficult period he experienced during the controversy that surrounded him in 2022, revealing that he feared his entertainment career might be over.

The content creator, whose real name is Adebayo Ridwan, spoke about the experience during an interview with Morayo Afolabi Brown.

Isbae U said the backlash he received at the time was overwhelming because people who had previously supported his work began criticising him.

He said the sudden change in public reaction made him question what the future held for his career.

The content creator recalled seeking advice from fellow skit maker Mr Macaroni during the period.

According to Isbae U, he asked Mr Macaroni whether the controversy represented the end of his career because he had never experienced such intense public criticism before.

“2022 was a tough time for me. It was the first time I was going through something like that, and then I asked Mr Macaroni, ‘Is this the end?’” he recalled.

Isbae U said the experience taught him an important lesson about public opinion and how quickly people can change their perception of a public figure.

He explained that some people who regularly praised him suddenly started leaving negative comments without necessarily knowing what he was going through.

The content creator said he eventually decided not to allow the backlash to determine his future.

Instead, he focused on improving his skills, becoming a better person and continuing to entertain his audience.

He also reduced the amount of personal information he shared online.

Isbae U said he stopped posting extensively about his private life and concentrated on producing content for his followers.

“I stepped back from posting anything about my life and I kept giving them entertainment,” he said.

He explained that his focus was on becoming better rather than constantly worrying about public reactions.

Isbae U also spoke about his interview show, Curiosity Made Me Ask, saying the programme is intended to reveal aspects of celebrities that audiences may not normally see.

The content creator said he would like to interview Donald Trump in the future.

His account highlights the personal challenges that public figures can face when controversy changes public perception and the strategies they may adopt to rebuild their careers.
