Phyna and Nkechi Blessing to Settle Social Media Clash in Boxing Ring

Reality TV personality Phyna and Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing are set to take their recent social media disagreement into the boxing ring when they meet in a celebrity bout on October 1 in Lagos.

The fight, promoted as “Phyna vs Nkechi,” will be held at the Federal Palace Hotel under Balmoral Group Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” series.

The organisers announced the matchup on Friday, September 18, releasing promotional materials featuring the two entertainers in boxing attire ahead of Nigeria’s Independence Day celebration.

The planned contest follows a public exchange between Phyna and Nkechi Blessing on social media. Nkechi had criticised Phyna over her frequent involvement in online controversies, leading to a response from the reality star.

Phyna questioned the actress’ decision to speak about her publicly and disclosed that the two had previously communicated regarding a movie project.

Their disagreement has now evolved into a scheduled entertainment event, with the pair expected to settle their differences through a celebrity boxing contest.

The fight will form part of the “Chaos in the Ring” programme, which combines boxing and entertainment by featuring popular Nigerian personalities.

Previous editions of the event have featured entertainers such as Portable, Charles Okocha, Speed Darlington and Carter Efe.

Carter Efe defeated Portable by unanimous decision in May, while Charles Okocha emerged victorious in their rematch in July.

Organisers have also announced that the October 1 event will be broadcast live on DAZN and SuperSport, allowing viewers outside the venue to follow the contest.

The Phyna-Nkechi fight demonstrates the growing relationship between celebrity culture, social media and boxing entertainment in Nigeria.

As of Saturday, organisers had not disclosed the complete undercard or ticketing details for the event.
