Phyna, Carter Efe Triumph Over Nkechi Blessing, Speed Darlington in Celebrity Boxing
Big Brother Naija star Phyna and comedian Carter Efe were among the major winners at Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring boxing event held in Lagos on October 1, 2026.
Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor, defeated actress Nkechi Blessing by knockout in their four-round contest at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.
The bout marked Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing contest, with Phyna emerging as the winner after stopping her opponent.
After the fight, Phyna expressed interest in facing another Nollywood actress, Etinosa Idemudia. She claimed Etinosa had been sending her messages and said she wanted to settle the matter in the ring.
Etinosa, who was present at ringside, accepted the challenge and told Phyna that they should represent their Edo heritage with pride.
Phyna was awarded ₦50 million for her victory and suggested that the contest could be the beginning of a professional boxing career.
Carter Efe also maintained his unbeaten record in the celebrity boxing series after defeating Speed Darlington by technical knockout.
The four-round contest saw Efe control much of the action before the referee stopped the fight after Speed Darlington stopped moving.
Carter Efe had previously defeated Portable on May 1, 2026, at Balmoral Hall, also at the Federal Palace Hotel. He won that three-round encounter by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the fight 30-27.
The professional headline bout saw Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah defeat Godday “Zodsolo” Appah by unanimous decision. The result saw Gyimah claim the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship from the Nigerian.
The event brought together entertainers and professional boxers and featured several closely watched rivalries. It was broadcast on SuperSport and DAZN, while Bet9ja powered the event.
