Senate President Calls for Stronger Political Alliances Ahead of 2027 Elections
The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consolidate existing political alliances and deepen engagement with key stakeholders as the All Progressives Congress (APC) intensifies preparations for the 2027 presidential election.
Senator Akpabio made the appeal on Wednesday during his remarks at the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
He emphasised that sustained political co-operation, strategic alliances and unity among party leaders would be instrumental to the ruling party’s efforts to secure a second-term mandate for President Tinubu.

The Senate President noted that political leaders and members of the National Assembly had continued to identify with the President’s vision of national unity and transformation, highlighting the importance of strengthening existing partnerships ahead of the electoral contest.
He also proposed extending participation in the campaign structure to members of the minority caucus in the National Assembly, subject to the President’s approval, as part of efforts to expand political engagement and foster co-operation across party lines.
According to him, increased collaboration among legislators and other political stakeholders would reinforce the administration’s development priorities while strengthening the political alliances supporting President Tinubu’s re-election bid.
