Nigerian comedian Sabinus has questioned the attitude of some Nigerians towards citizens demanding good governance, saying people who speak out are often criticised, while those who remain silent also face insults.

The popular skit maker expressed his frustration in a social media post, drawing attention to the difficulties Nigerians encounter when attempting to raise concerns about the country’s leadership and national challenges.

Sabinus wondered why citizens have yet to unite to demand accountability and insist on receiving the benefits and rights they believe are due to them.

He wrote, “A lot is going on in this country and we’re just keeping quiet. You demand for good governance, they tell you to mind your business. You try to mind your business, they still insult you. When are we going to come as one and demand for what we’re being owed?”

His statement reflects concerns about public participation in governance and the divisions that can arise when citizens express different opinions about national affairs.

The comedian’s remarks have also renewed attention to the role of entertainers and public figures in conversations about Nigeria’s political and economic situation.

Sabinus did not provide specific details of the incidents that prompted his post, but his message focused on the need for collective action and greater accountability.

In a related development, Seyi Tinubu has spoken about the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians, acknowledging that the country continues to face significant challenges.

The president’s son said every generation inherits problems from the past and must make choices that will benefit future generations.

He maintained that President Bola Tinubu’s administration had chosen to confront Nigeria’s problems, arguing that its decisions were intended to establish a better future for young people.

The contrasting perspectives highlight the continuing debate over governance, economic reforms and the impact of government policies on ordinary Nigerians.
