Osun 2026: Oyebamiji Urges Voters Not To Sell Their PVCs
APC and the state government discuss IGP’s visit.
Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Osun State, has advised eligible voters in the state not to sell their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), characterizing the cards as a potent tool for deciding the state’s future ahead of the governorship election on August 15, 2026.
During a special prayer session and meeting held in his honor, Oyebamiji made an appeal to members of the Osun State branch of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria (ADS).
Additionally, he emphasized that peaceful cooperation remained crucial to the state’s advancement and urged religious leaders in the state to keep praying for a free, credible, and peaceful election.
The APC candidate for governor committed to prioritize security, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, commerce, and industry in order to operate an inclusive, participatory, and people-centered administration if elected.
Oyebamiji was previously described by Akande Ola Hafiz, the Osun State Secretary of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, as a legitimate member of the organization whose record of public service demonstrated honesty, modesty, and commitment.
Speaking on behalf of the National Vice President, Justice Moshood Adekunle Adeigbe (rtd), the National President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Musedik Kazeem Adeniji (SAN), praised Oyebamiji’s longstanding support for the organization and wished him well in the election.
In a different development, the APC and the Osun State Government have exchanged words on state security and law enforcement.
The state government accused Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu of using subtle blackmail to discredit Adeleke for allegedly hiding wanted suspects in Government House in a video released by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi.
Alimi stated that there are concerns regarding the practical measures the police authorities made to handle the development and the allegations of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, despite claims to have access to such records.
The Osun APC, however, claimed that the IGP’s comments during his visit corroborated its previous claim that the people charged with crimes were being kept safe in Osun Government House.
The APC asserted that the IGP had instructed Gotan to handle the accusation in a professional manner in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi.
However, it called Alimi’s reaction to the IGP’s comments “misplaced” and an afterthought.
The IGP’s remark, according to the APC, validated its repeated stance on the existence of sought criminals who had escaped bail due to alleged murder and other criminal offenses.
