Presidency: Trump’s Letter Confirms Tinubu’s Progress on Security
ABUJA – The Presidency has described United States President Donald Trump’s recent letter to President Bola Tinubu as an indication that the Federal Government’s efforts to address insecurity are receiving international recognition.
Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communications, Daniel Bwala, made the remarks on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he reacted to Trump’s message commending Tinubu’s leadership.
Bwala said the letter demonstrates that the administration’s security initiatives are producing results and attracting positive attention from global partners.
“The facts speak for themselves. The letter is further proof of the progress we are making,” he said.
According to him, the Tinubu administration remains committed to improving security and strengthening cooperation with the United States and other international partners, regardless of external commendations.
He noted that Nigeria has maintained continuous engagement with the US on security matters, adding that the letter serves as encouragement rather than the basis for the government’s actions.
Bwala likened the correspondence to a message of encouragement between trusted partners, saying such recognition strengthens existing commitments but does not change the administration’s determination to confront security challenges.
His comments followed a letter from President Trump praising Tinubu’s leadership in combating terrorism and reaffirming the United States’ commitment to supporting Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts through enhanced bilateral cooperation.
The Presidency maintains that the growing partnership between Nigeria and the United States reflects continued collaboration aimed at improving regional security and combating terrorism across West Africa.
