The President of the Dorowa Babuje Youth Council in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Pam Fom, has reportedly been shot by suspected armed attackers just a day after speaking publicly about the killing of two youths in his community.

According to reports, Fom was ambushed while travelling to a neighbouring community shortly after granting an interview in which he condemned the earlier attack and appealed for improved security in the area.

In the interview, the youth leader alleged that the attackers targeted two young men riding on a motorcycle before opening fire at a nearby mining site, leaving several people injured.

He called on the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to protect residents from recurring attacks, warning that continued insecurity could force communities to take measures to defend themselves.

Barely hours after making the appeal, Fom was reportedly attacked by gunmen who shot him and fled the scene.

The incident was confirmed by conflict journalist Masara Kim Usman, who said the youth leader was attacked shortly after speaking about the violence affecting his community.

Another community leader, Titus Badung, also confirmed the incident, describing it as a disturbing development that came only a day after Fom publicly condemned the killings that had plunged the community into mourning.

The latest attack has heightened concerns over the security situation in parts of Plateau State, where several communities have experienced repeated incidents of violence in recent months.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had not issued an official statement on the incident, while the condition of the injured youth leader remained unclear.
