Independence Day Special: Get Two King Kosoko Cinema Tickets for the Price of One
Teqsus Studios is offering moviegoers an opportunity to watch its historical film, King Kosoko: The Battle For Lagos, with a special buy-one-get-one-free ticket deal on Nigeria’s Independence Day.
According to the studio, the offer will cover all showings of the film on Thursday, October 1, at selected cinemas nationwide.
The promotion comes as Nigeria celebrates its 66th independence anniversary and is intended to link the national celebration with the historical story portrayed in the movie.
Directed by Adebayo Tijani, the film stars Femi Adebayo as Oba Kosoko and focuses on the Lagos monarch’s resistance to British imperial influence.
Released theatrically on August 28 by FilmOne Entertainment, King Kosoko: The Battle For Lagos has recorded more than N65 million in box-office revenue, according to the filmmakers.
The story centres on Oba Kosoko’s determination to defend the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Lagos. It also portrays events surrounding the British bombardment of Lagos in 1851, historically remembered as the Salt Water War or Ogun Olomiro.

Producer and executive producer Ayo Ajayi said Independence Day was particularly appropriate for Nigerians to experience the story.
He described the promotion as an invitation for Nigerians to mark the national holiday with a film about a people determined to govern themselves.
The production, jointly produced by Ajayi and Segun Olojo-Kosoko, features an extensive cast, including Odunlade Adekola, Jide Kosoko, Fathia Balogun, Gabriel Afolayan, Femi Branch, Tina Mba and Yinka Quadri.
Other cast members include Dele Odule, Aishat Lawal, Kolawole Ajeyemi, Niyi Johnson and Sola Kosoko.
The Yoruba-language film comes with English subtitles. The promotion is available at Filmhouse Cinemas, Silverbird SEC, Silverbird Galleria, Silverbird Kaduna and selected independent cinemas across Nigeria.
