Former Big Brother Naija housemate Ijeoma Emi, known professionally as Mercedes, has asked Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy to assist her in securing accommodation, saying she has concerns about her safety and comfort in her current home.

The 26-year-old entrepreneur and performance artist made the appeal through a social media post in which she described the difficulties she has experienced while trying to rebuild her life after participating in the reality television programme.

Mercedes said public exposure from the show should not be mistaken for financial security, explaining that she continues to work towards establishing herself and developing her career.

She said securing a place of her own would provide the independence and peace of mind needed to concentrate on her professional goals.

According to the former housemate, her current living conditions have also affected her ability to work consistently as a content creator and pole dancer.

She explained that the ceiling in her accommodation does not permit the safe installation of a dance pole indoors. As a result, she has been practising on the balcony, where weather conditions frequently disrupt her training.

Mercedes said a more suitable living environment would allow her to install her equipment safely, practise regularly and create content without the interruptions she currently faces.

In her message to Don Jazzy, she emphasised that she was not seeking luxury but an opportunity to become independent and improve her circumstances.

She also acknowledged that the music executive likely receives numerous requests for assistance, while expressing hope that he would consider her appeal.

The former housemate’s request has attracted attention online, with some fans calling on members of the entertainment industry and the public to support her.

Her situation has renewed discussion about the challenges faced by reality television contestants after their time on screen, particularly when it comes to maintaining financial stability and building long-term careers.

Although programmes such as Big Brother Naija can provide visibility and networking opportunities, contestants may still need to develop reliable income streams and professional skills after leaving the show.

For Mercedes, housing support would address both her concerns about her current accommodation and the practical limitations affecting her work.

No response from Don Jazzy or confirmation of any housing arrangement was included in the available report.
