Taylor Swift Breaks VMA Record, Pays Tribute to Dolly Parton
Taylor Swift has made MTV Video Music Awards history after surpassing Beyoncé as the artist with the highest number of Moonman trophies.
Swift, 36, had been tied with Beyoncé at 30 awards before securing the inaugural Artist Director Honours at Sunday’s ceremony on September 27, 2026.
The award recognised Swift’s work in visual storytelling and pushed her ahead in the all-time VMA standings.
She added another major honour to her collection by winning Video of the Year for Fate of Ophelia. Swift dedicated the award to the late Dolly Parton, describing the country music legend as an exceptional storyteller.
According to Swift, Parton’s songs were filled with vivid storytelling, while her approach to fame demonstrated grace, love and gratitude.
The award-winning singer also used the ceremony to debut the music video for Patient Zero, her latest single. The production featured acclaimed actors Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson.
Swift’s record-breaking evening highlighted her continued influence across music and visual entertainment.
