Nigerian actress Juliana Olayode has explained her position on homosexuality and Christianity, insisting that believers should remain committed to their interpretation of biblical teachings while treating others with love.

Olayode made her views known in an Instagram post, where she urged the Church to speak out against teachings she believes contradict the Word of God.

The actress expressed concern that such teachings could influence adults, teenagers and children, calling on Christian leaders to return to Scripture and uphold their religious convictions.

She argued that the Church should not reshape biblical teachings to accommodate changing cultural attitudes.

According to Olayode, identifying as gay or queer while claiming to follow Christianity creates a conflict with the biblical principles she believes should guide believers.

However, she clarified that her position was not intended as an expression of hatred towards people with different sexual identities.

The actress said she did not believe people who identify as gay, homosexual or queer deserved death or harm because of their sexuality.

She added that every human being deserved love and should not be subjected to ill treatment.

Olayode nevertheless maintained that showing love to someone does not require accepting every belief or lifestyle, particularly when it conflicts with her understanding of Scripture.

She encouraged Christians to communicate their beliefs honestly while maintaining compassion towards others.

To support her argument, the actress referenced Genesis 1:27, which describes God creating humanity as male and female.

She also cited Matthew 19:4-6, pointing to Jesus’ reference to male and female and the biblical understanding of marriage.

Olayode said Christians who accept God as their Creator should regard His Word as the authority guiding their convictions rather than allowing personal desires or cultural changes to determine their beliefs.

Her comments have contributed to ongoing conversations about faith, sexuality and the responsibilities of religious institutions.

The actress maintained that Christians should remain firm in their beliefs while demonstrating love in their interactions with people who hold different views.

Her statement reflects her personal interpretation of Christian doctrine and the relationship between religious conviction and contemporary debates about sexual identity.
