APC Lawmaker Ahmed Doro Dumps Party for PDP in Katsina
ABUJA – The member representing Bindawa/Mani Federal Constituency of Katsina State in the House of Representatives, Ahmed Yusuf Doro, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defection was announced during Thursday’s plenary after the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, read Doro’s letter informing the House of his decision to leave the ruling APC.
In the letter, dated July 18, 2026, the lawmaker said his decision followed extensive consultations with his constituents and careful consideration of what he described as the best course of action to strengthen representation and improve service delivery to the people of his constituency.
Doro stated that joining the PDP would provide him with a better platform to effectively represent the interests and aspirations of the people of Bindawa/Mani Federal Constituency, while remaining fully committed to his legislative duties in the 10th House of Representatives.
He also expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the APC for the support and opportunities he received during his time in the party.
The federal lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to delivering quality representation and pursuing sustainable development projects that would positively impact his constituents under his new political platform.
According to the notification read on the floor of the House, Doro’s defection officially took effect on July 18, 2026.
The development adds to the growing wave of political realignments ahead of future electoral activities, as parties continue to reposition themselves across the country.
