Marriage Doesn’t Make Women Desperate, Juliana Olayode Says

Actress Juliana Olayode has challenged the idea that women who desire marriage are desperate or lack direction in life.

Olayode made the statement in a social media post, arguing that women should have the freedom to determine what they want from life without being subjected to unnecessary criticism.

The actress said there should be equal respect for women who choose to remain single and those who hope to get married.

According to her, excitement about becoming a wife does not mean that a woman lacks ambition or has abandoned other personal goals.

“Wanting to get married is not a personality disorder,” Olayode stated.

She acknowledged that marriage is not without challenges and that some relationships eventually end. However, she pointed out that many people continue to view marriage as a meaningful and beautiful union.

The actress also narrated an experience at a salon where she heard women discussing another woman who had expressed her desire to get married.

Olayode said she contributed to the conversation before later finding humour in the situation after seeing a “BRIDE” swimsuit that a friend had given her in 2024.

She maintained that people who do not want marriage have every right to make that choice, but the same freedom should apply to women who desire it.

Olayode said women can pursue several aspirations, including faith, purpose, careers, financial independence, friendships, family and marriage.

She ended her message by wishing women seeking marriage good partners and fulfilling relationships.
